Money

Can I register without paying?

No. Payment is due when you register. The rego form will automatically direct you to pay pal when you finish filling it out.

Can I pay for only one day?

No. For the sake of simplicity, the event has one registration option – the full 4-day event. Committee members are volunteers. Adding options would add more hours and complexity for each of them.

Can I get a refund?

No. However, you can transfer your Rego to someone else. Just let us know who you transferred to (with their email).

Can I pay by cash/check?

Only local Madison hashers will be allowed to give a check directly to Eggbeater or Beer Nuts (no mail!). All others must pay by paypal. It is easy to sign up for paypal if you do not have an account and connect it to a credit card.

Why is there no discount for volunteers or local hashers?

USA Nash Hash is a national event, not a local hash. Registration fees must cover an array of expenses that are typical for an event of this size/scope. Our goal is to showcase our state and host city (including the surrounding area) as best as we can on a tight budget. Tightening it further by giving discounts would force us to offer less to all participants.

Two years ago, a call for volunteers followed the announcement that Wisconsin would be the 2010 site for USA Nash Hash. The first hashers to respond became committee members, who solictied additional volunteers. All volunteers have donated their time. Not even committee members who have been working for 18 months putting this together received any special discounts.

Is the Madison hash contributing any money toward the event?

No. Madison is the host city, but this event is self-funded by registration fees.

I can't spend the whole weekend or don't have the cash. Can I still particpate?

There will be pub crawl pre-lube on Thursday September 2nd. This is pay as you go and is not included in registration fees. Everyone is invited to the pub crawl.

Lodging and Transportation

I don't want to camp. Where are nearby hotels?

The closest hotels to camp are in Sauk City. There are links from the camp website to hotel choices. Please note that anyone who hasn't paid for a campsite will be assessed a $5 day fee by the campsite. There is another event in the area that weekend so you may have trouble finding a room.

How will I get around?

Transporation will be provided for all Nash Hash events. You must get yourself to the campsite when you arrive or to the trail start in Madison on Friday. From there, there will rides to and from all trails. Any side trips will be on your own.

Conditions

Will it snow?

No. Average high temperature for early September is 76 degrees F and average low is 54. (Record high and low for early September is 99 and 35 degrees.) Midwest weather conditions can fluctuate quickly. Thunderstorms are certainly possible that time of year.

Are there pests?

Yes, including but not limited to: other hashers, skeeters, critters, ticks, hunters and Viking fans.

What should I bring?

Everything you would normally bring when camping and hiking in a woodsy area. We highly advise bringing a water bottle to bring on trail. A beer mug would be nice to cut down on trash.
