HASH HISTORY - HASH RUN #1567 - Mean Beaver Labor Day Run

About 20 hashers showed up on the holiday weekend for MEAN BEAVER's Labor (Day) Run. Several of these were sporting blemishes of poison ivy from CORNHOLIO's run the previous week. The run appropriately started at the Labor Temple parking lot on South Park St. and the hare announced that the trail would be short, and the trail would pass by many labor related items including some things that you wouldn't see in any other part of town. The trail meandered through the south side neighborhoods and made good use of the Wingra Creek trails. There was even a bit of urban shiggy along the creek and some railroad tracks... well, just about everywhere. There was also a considerable amount of disjointed urban design with back streets that met at odd angles and street grids broken up by huge tracts of public land and private industrial stuff. After a couple of miles, there was a beer check at Quan Park within sight of the new municipal swimming pool. From there the trail headed past the pool and though the Olin/Lakeside neighborhood before heading back to the start. The On-On was outdoors at Vilas Park where the hare provided good picnic food and more beer. There were a few Badger football fans picnicking and celebrating the Badger's win against Washington State, and Michigan's loss to the lowly Climbing Mountaineers, a junior high school football team from South Carolina. Ceremonies were conducted rather quickly since once again, the tiny flying insects attacked everyone and were even worse than the previous week. Just about everyone present was awarded something, some were awarded twice. In the end, MEAN BEAVER's trail was perfect in distance, and the beer was exceptional in it's quaff ability. In the spirit of the Labor Day holiday weekend, everyone agreed that after a week of faking it through work, it was great to relax with a beer after a great hash run.
