HASH HISTORY - HASH RUN #1582 - WILL HO and Cowpoker BD Run
About 25 hashers showed up for WILL HO's and COWPOKER's winter birthday run that started at Olin-Turville Park. The Madison area is well ahead of the typical snowfall for the month of December with nearly 20 inches already, so the first part of the trail included "regrooming" the cross country ski trails in the park. The pack encountered one skier early in the run who didn't seem annoyed and claimed to enjoy the "natural" look of the ski trail after the hash trampled it. After traversing the park trails, the route went down a steep embankment to a railroad track. ZAMBONER and CO-CO surged ahead to check in both directions and were nearly out of sight before giving up and returning to the check. The true trail did not follow the tracks but went up and over the other side of the embankment, and crossed John Nolen Drive. The pack spread out to look for trail throughout the area of the Coliseum and didn't regroup until everyone noticed all the female hashers converging on the Alliant Center where the marquee promoted a "Men's Expo" happening at that very moment. The hash women soon returned to the trail though, when they discovered the expo was more about big screen TV, lounge chairs, poker and cigars, rather than live naked firemen. The trail continued beyond the Expo Center to a beer check next to a small grove of trees that provided enough cover for several of the guys to relieve themselves. HEAVE HO inspected the proceedings and decided to compete with PIP by just peeing out in the open. From the beer check, the trail headed through the dog park where several hashers confused a totally innocent dog with Got Dammit Kirby. As the hashers exited the dog park there was another opportunity to head right or left on the bike trail, and again, ZAMBONER and CO-CO headed in opposite directions until they were out of sight. The true trail headed directly forward and onto the streets near JELLY BOOB's house and everyone thought they knew what was coming next... they were wrong. The trail continued around the neighborhood and onto the frozen water of Monona Bay. After a brisk trot across the bay, there was another alcohol check on the railroad bridge consisting of a bottle of Ice Hole. From there the trail headed down the tracks and back to the start at the park. The On-On was at the Farm Tavern where the beer was flowing and co-hare WILL HO had set up some great food she prepared. It was at this point that several hashers observed that WILL HO makes a much better co-hare for COW POKER than his former compatriot Y-TOOTH. Ceremonies included the usual misdemeanors as well as awards for the seldom seen new boots Just Ron and Just Satja. The evening concluded with a round of the traditional "Your Day of Birth is Now Upon You" birthday song for the aging hares... concluded except for the continued drinking at the bar for the next few hours.
