HASH HISTORY - HASH RUN #1585 - Tropical Hash - SHARE ME w/ RTG

SHARE ME started her virgin hare hash at the Brooklyn Center in downtown Brooklyn. This is also her office complex, yet she invited the 30 or so, brightly clad hashers inside to stay warm before the run. Along with the regulars, there were three visitors from Waukesha and one repeat, seldom seen new boot, Just Janine who ran with us a long, long time ago on a run far, far away. After everyone successfully negotiated the complex metropolitan parking situation, SHARE ME and her co-hares, RETURN TO GENDER, Just Troy and SHOW ME donned grass skirts in honor of the tropical theme. Just as they got everyone lined up for instructions, there was a tremendous crash as a huge aquarium slid off a moving truck and shattered onto the street. We just don't get excitement like that in the big city. The trail quickly led out of town and into some winter shiggy. We've had about 30 inches of snow compacted into two layers. About one third of the depth is a frozen crust and the remaining third is a softer top layer. This made the cross country portion of trail rather challenging... (not unlike running in tropical beach sand...) and that cross country portion was pretty much the remainder of the two hour route. Everyone tried their best to run in a manner that kept them from punching through both layers of snow, but most failed at making themselves lighter than crust. After a crossing a significant distance through deep snow, the pack found the first alcohol check consisting of hot chocolate with tequila or hot cider and rum served by Just Flo from the back of his van. This was a welcome break from the slog through the snow but it was interrupted when someone kicked over the hot chocolate. ZAMBONER did his best to lick it off the ground before the pack took off running again. After more of what was a really good trail despite the artic ground cover, the pack found the second alcohol check again served by Just Flo, this time without the hot chocolate. From here it was back to the start on roads, roads not covered by snow, it was almost too easy... The On-On was at SHARE ME's fabulous party palace, where the hares had prepared wonderful tropical foods including various gumba-licious dishes like tropical jello shots and Just Pamela's gumbo. There was a great selection of Caribbean beers, SHARE ME's Rum Punch and Blue Hawaiians, and SHOW ME's pineapple mohitos (based on a Disney recipe). Ceremonies included most of the usual guilty suspects and included the mysteriously appearing DFLs STROKES and IT's TOO SOFT from Chicago. Both missed the start of the run but appeared to be in running outfits as though they were there all along. After much ado, the hash portion of the evening came to a close just in time for the remaining party guests to show up. As the evening progressed, the grotto Jacuzzi and multimedia dance floor were put to good use. Congratulations to SHARE ME on her virgin haring, and thanks for the many times she's invited us to enjoy her fine hospitality.
