HASH HISTORY - HASH RUN #1588 - BARELY's 60th Birthday Hash

BARELY had assistance from SON OF BARELY (SOB) with setting his 70th birthday hash to start somewhere near the Atwood Community Center. About 20 hashers showed up on a rather cold but sunny afternoon for the big event. The pack took off a little early for hash time so a few people started late. It was no problem though since the trail was pretty much the same as BARELY's Dandelion Dash course. That meant that there was pretty much a check on every street corner in the immediate area. The pack soon found themselves within a few blocks of DRIB's place and the scent of beer was strong. Hopes were dashed though, when BARELY blocked the path and told everyone the flour they were following actually went in the opposite direction. (To quote Homer Simpson, "That darn, dirty, tricky flour!!!") That trail led back across Atwood Ave. and down Fair Oaks to a dead end. The true trail apparently headed onto the bike trail, through Olbrich Garden and Park, and up the street to DRIB's house for a beer check. The pack was spread out by this time but nearly everyone made it for a beer. Everyone, that is, except BEER NUTS who was rejected for arriving too late. From there the trail headed more or less back to the start and the Atwood Center. Hash ceremonies were conducted in what closely resembled an actual hash circle with the hare and a few family members joining in. The hash hoopla was "on the clock" to finish before anyone with good sense showed up so there was just enough time to name Just Janine BLO WHOLE. There was a short break before the big party began and lots of friends, neighbors and hashers showed up for the great middle-eastern food and Capital Winter Skal beer. SOB later played DJ with some great dance tunes and breaks that included fun BARELY stories from family and friends. BARELY later confessed that he drank a half a glass of wine for his down-down and had such a hangover that he couldn't compose this thank-you messages for several days. He turned in a substantial contribution to the Goodman-Atwood Center thanks to some contributions from party guests. He thanks everyone for all the help with set-up and take-down but possibly his best line was, "Perhaps next year I'll regress and have a 69 party."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARELY!!! You'll always be 69 in our half-minds.
