HASH HISTORY - HASH RUN #1619 - BABY BALLS' No Blizzard Guaranteed Run

Everyone who participated in BABY BALLS' birthday run blizzard last winter remembered his promise that his next run would not involve a white-out blizzard. He delivered on that promise by hosting his next hash in August. About 25 hashers showed up for this run that started near the corner of Highways M and K on the north side of lake Mendota in the Town of Westport. Again, the hare had beer available at the start so there was tremendous momentum to just stay and drink and many did just that until nearly 5:30. Eventually the pack took off with thoughts of a very short route to a beer check at the nearby Willows Tavern. But no!!! The trail headed the other direction onto the trails through Governor Nelson State Park. It wasn't long before the pack found the first beer check at the dog pier on lake Mendota where Maggie the dog demonstrated her duathalon skills in diving and retrieving. The trail continued on park trails and it was such a nice afternoon that nearly everyone got their money's worth out of the trail by walking. It was a slow trek but the pack eventually made it to the second beer check at the old Camp Wakonda site. Several of the old time hasher regaled the rest with stories of former hashes from this site. BABY BALLS promised three beer checks and the third was found about 300 yards from the second. From here everyone took a leisurely hike back to the start and on to BABY's airplane hangar for the On-On. The hare served several great dishes of barbequed and pulled pork made from the finest ingredients, leftovers. Although there was plenty of beer at the start, the hare made a beer run before the night was over. Ceremonies were conducted in Olympic fashion with each hash award distributed between gold, silver and bronze. This also included a platinum medal performance of the sex pot dance by a scantily clad RD and his understudy. The evening ended when BABY BALLS towed his airplane back to the hangar by hand as though he were out for a walk with a little red wagon. There was no blizzard.
